Writing Blog Articles
As a non-profit, our blog is one of Fox Run EEC’s outreach tools to educate people on living a more environmentally sustainable life.
There are four topic categories on the website that cover Alternative Energy, Organic Gardening, Wildlife Conservation and Rehabilitation (native US species), and Environmental Education/Ecopsychology.
***Our blog posts are friendly, accurate, and informative. No fluff.
***Our blog posts cover specific topics that give actionable advice. For instance, pollution is a poor topic. Water pollution is better. The best topic would be stream pollution from coal ash. Specific.
***1200 - 1500 word blog, article, or lesson plan. Submit via Word Docs and Submit any pictures separately via email.
***The content must be 100% original and not published anywhere else.
***Blogs are subject to editing for grammar, spelling, and word flow, but we will keep your voice.
***To be accepted the article must be clean (no grammar and spelling errors), well-written in American English, and a good fit for our audience.
***We welcome articles from high school students. If you are under 18 we do need your parent’s permission to publish your name and promote your article.

Do not promote a product or make a sales pitch. If you are a business and would like to send us a product for review please see below.
You will be asked to sign a release form. Once published the article becomes the property of Fox Run EEC.
Why Write For Us?
Many of our writers are college students who want to practice science communication, journalism, or write a great lesson plan. Not only will we help you refine your skills but it gives you a nice resume entry.
We are also a good fit for freelance writers who wish to guest post so they have a clip in the environmental space.
Authors receive a by-line for writing and/or a credit on pictures and a link back to their writing website or writing portfolio. Include a three-sentence author bio with your submission and a picture.
Please Note: There is no compensation for blog posts, but we will give author accreditation, a link to your writing site or portfolio, and promote you across our social media - Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. (We all work as volunteers here!)
Our website continues to grow and we often have blogs post in the top three search positions. We are currently averaging 20,000 views per month and show increases weekly. We have around 1200 Facebook followers and our Pinterest numbers are growing rapidly. Pinterest currently has 85,000 monthly views.
Our Audience
We have a varied audience but they all have one thing in common. They are concerned about environmental issues and want to live an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Our audience falls into one or more buckets - animal lovers, off-grid enthusiasts, organic gardeners, teachers, and environmentalists.
Our audience likes to hear actionable tips and practical advice. You should have personal experience in what you are writing about. If you are writing about gardening, give some tried and true organic garden strategies you have used. Do you live off-grid? Tell us about your experiences.

Tell us about your writing experience. We welcome experienced and new writers alike.
Title of article and 3-5 sentence summary
Tell us about your personal experience with the subject matter.

Product Reviews and Influencer Programs
Do you have a product to promote that fits with our audience? Send us a free sample. Our director, Ame Vanorio, will write an unbiased, honest review of your product. Reviews include pictures or videos of her using the product. Email her for more information.
