We are pleased to come to give talks to local community groups; garden clubs, Sunday school classes, animal shelters, and Lions Club are some of the places we have given talks. Madison, WI area.
Curriculum/ Lesson Plans/ Teacher Training
Ame also writes curriculum for teachers and home-schools. Our curriculum meets Kentucky and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
We also offer a workshop in Bringing Nature Education Into The Classroom. This class is designed to give teachers an up-close view of native species and learn why they are important in our environment.
We can come to teacher training programs or do small groups of teachers.
Virtual Internships
With the pandemic and a desire for students from around the country to participate, we are now offering Virtual Internships. These internships are open to high school and college students who want to learn more about the education and marketing end of a non-profit. (Note: students under 18 need parental permission).
Internships are available for:
Blog Writing on a variety of environmental topics
Environmental Education Writing - lesson plans and fun nature activities
Research Assistant
Video Editing - this one needs some prior experience and access to software programs
Interns and Students
(We are no longer offering in-person internships). We do want to thank our past interns, many of who have gone on to successful jobs in environmental fields. Ame is continuing to work with college and university programs to consult with students going into environmental and agriculture careers.
Our interns have gone into jobs as park environmental educator, microbiologist/lab manager, Peace Corps, Landscaper, wildlife rehabilitator, and organic farmer.
Our 2019 summer Intern Lauren earned 3 credits from the University of Kentucky and presented this fabulous poster to her classmates.
Your Teacher
Lead Teacher and curriculum designer, Ame Vanorio, has thirty years of teaching experience and holds graduate degrees in Education and Environmental Science. She has been involved in promoting organic agriculture and science education since 1986. Read more about her on our Partners page.
In addition, we occasionally bring in teachers from the area who are leaders in their field.
